If you are considering having Avi Melamed either give a talk to your organization or lead you on a tour I suggest that you stop considering and just sign him up, he is that good.
As a frequent traveler to Israel and a member of several national and local Jewish organizations I've had the privilege to hear many experts present on a multitude of topics. I therefore feel qualified to rank Avi in the top 10% in his field. His most striking and valuable attributes are:
Vast fund of knowledge - He is exceptionally well schooled, well read and constantly current on the topics he speaks about. His knowledge is both broad and deep, well past what we get from the media.
Superb communications skills - His English is excellent and his engaging style assures that all will benefit from his presentation and the time will be well spent.
Passionate yet balanced - While Avi is clearly passionate about Eretz Yisrael he presents the facts, not opinions. His passion inspires and his balance informs.
Simplifies the complex - I'll never forget my first encounter with Avi when he gave my group a presentation about the security fence around Jerusalem and the West Bank. He used maps that he developed and he eloquently described the geopolitical situation from 1948 until now in a way that has stuck with me for years. That's no easy task. I also heard him simplify the Israeli electoral process which is quite a challenge to Americans so used to our 2 party system.
He can go past the political, military and economics of Israel and present what is in the heart of the people.
Avi has a true sense of the spirit of the early Zionistic (socialist) pioneers and also how Israel has evolved into a successful capitalistic society. This has caused great success but also substantial social stress and few presenters can leave you with a sense that you truly understand the miracle and the challenges of our young State of Israel.
Please feel free to contact me if you need further information about Avi. But as I said at the top, best for you to sign him up before you miss the opportunity.
Sincerely,

"Avi is a highly knowledgeable and highly accomplished speaker. His series of three talks to our community involved 20, then 40, then 60 people. This number of participants is all but unprecedented for Santa Rosa. Indeed…… Avi last talk attracted so many and the audience would have him continue all day…."

This letter is written to recomment Mr. Avi Melamed. His knowledge of the are is extraordinary with outstanding understanding of history, geography, political and social information. I am certain no other guide would have had the extensive background and preparation that Mr. Melamed displayed |
Avi is a thoughtful conversationalist, and our days spent with him will stay with us always as he put a face and personality to the country of Israel. He is a wonderful ambassador, and an enthusiastic host

I recommend him highly and would be happy to answer any additional questions anyone might have.
